FRIDA demo: Doreen Montalvo Conjures Magic
When Doreen Montalvo (www.doreenmontalvo.com) recorded “Abrazados” for us, we knew something very special was happening. Michael Aman’s lyrics, Doreen’s heartfelt singing and the musica all worked together to conjure up the magic of the famous painting; the universe embracing Frida as she embraces Diego.
In the musical, Diego begs Frida for forgiveness for cheating on her and she takes him in her arms in a forgiving embrace as the figure from one of her paintings magically wraps her arms around the couple who cannot live without each other.

The musical, Frida, based on the incredible true story of beloved Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, charts her rise above physical disabilities and the male-dominated art world to win the love and admiration of famed muralist Diego Rivera, become the artistic soul of her country and create art that would forever change the way we see the world.
This is a demo recording featuring Doreen Montalvo. FRIDA explores the world of magic realism weaving art and dance and music together to tell the larger-than-life story of the Mexican painter, Frida Kahlo.
