New Frida Kahlo Musical to Receive Public Reading at Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ Ignite! Festival

The renowned Mexican artist is at the center of Michael Aman and Dana P. Rowe’s new musical.

Michael Aman, Dana P. Rowe, and Gustavo Zajac are at work on a new musical about renowned Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. The musical will receive a staged reading at The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis’ 2019 Ignite! Festival of New Plays, running March 27–April 4.

Frida features a book and lyrics by Aman, music by Dana P. Rowe, and direction by Zajac. The new musical will delve into Kahlo’s life, her art and indomitable creative spirit, and her complicated relationship with her husband, the painter Diego Rivera. The presentation will take place April 4 at 7:30 PM.
